UK Ecommerce Courier Performance 2025 Analysis

2026 logistics planning starts with 2025 analysis.

After the high-spending of peak season, the post-holiday hangover sets in for e-commerce companies in January and February. For Ops and Logistics, it's usually a time to manage returns, move around excess inventory and plan for the year ahead.

In other words, it's the perfect time to review your couriers' performance from 2025, assess the best couriers for your products and even claim back compensation for couriers' delivery issues.

Here's our breakdown of e-commerce courier performance in 2025.

UK e-commerce courier performance in 2025

The UK's courier market still operates in the shadow of Royal Mail. The formerly state-owned delivery service accounts for roughly 25% of the courier market, but Amazon (17%), Evri (14%), DPD (12%) and a range of other major players (FedEx, UPS and Yodel etc) are catching up. What's more, with Evri and DHL's merger taking place in 2025, Royal Mail's top dog status could be under threat in 2026.

Meanwhile, UK parcel delivery is in rude health (an estimated 4.5 billion parcels were sent in 2025) with e-commerce responsible for a growing proportion of deliveries (online orders now make up over 30% of total UK retail sales).

All this leads to a highly competitive courier market with e-commerce couriers competing in relation to delivery performance, customer satisfaction and lost & damaged shipments.

UK e-commerce couriers analysis: 2025 delivery performance

Delivery performance is subjective. Do you weight delivery speed over first-time delivery success? Are frequent delays more or less important than lost shipments?

For instance, Evri claims that over 99% of standard parcels are delivered on time, but Evri also received just 2.4/5 stars for delivery in Citizens Advice 2025 research and only 2.25/5 overall.

Overall, Citizens Advice found that 37% of people in the UK experienced a problem with their last delivery and more than two-thirds (68%) experienced a delivery issue in the past six months, including delays (28%), undelivered parcels (16%) and damaged goods (15%).

UK e-commerce couriers analysis: 2025 customer satisfaction

Each e-commerce company will prioritise delivery metrics in a different order, but ultimately poor customer satisfaction and consumer perception of couriers will negatively impact the e-commerce retailer that chooses to use them.

Ofcom's annual report found Amazon and FedEx (57%) topped the customer satisfaction charts with Evri (31%) and Yodel (38%) propping up the list.

Meanwhile, a YouGov survey in November 2025 found that Royal Mail made the strongest customer impression (net score 21.5) and the highest perceived quality (17), followed by DPD and DHL. In keeping with Ofcom's findings, Evri and Yodel consistently received negative perceptions and were the only two couriers that would not be recommended by customers.

UK e-commerce couriers analysis: 2025 lost & damaged shipments

The UK has one of the most efficient e-commerce markets in Europe with first-time delivery success rate hovering around the 97% mark and an on-time delivery ratio of 98%, according to Parcel Perform.

But the UK's couriers are not immune to losing or damaging shipments in transit. Across 2025, the Claimit platform processed over 150,000 claims for lost (92%) and damaged (8%) shipments, achieving a 70% success rate.

As we integrate with every major UK courier, we can spot patterns in the wider courier network (i.e. identify hubs, driver routes and distribution centres with the most problems) and advise on the best couriers for your products and routes.

In 2025, for example, Evri, Royal Mail and DPD were the top three couriers for claims on our platform.
